I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Gap (Crystal Cove, CA)
Interview
After applying online, I was called back within two days to schedule an interview. The person I spoke with was nice and just asked about availability, salary expectations, etc. At the end of the call, I was asked to come in for an interview. I went in to the store two days later for the interview. Turns out that it was a group interview so there was another person who was also applying for the same position and we would be interviewing together. We had to wait around for about 10 minutes past our interview time. Our interviewer (the girl who had called me) didn't seem very friendly in person and made it seem like a hassle to have to stop what she was doing and interview us. We were finally taken to the back room to interview with her and another assistant manager. Honestly, I've been in a lot of interviews and conducted a lot of interviews, so I can say with certainty that they both weren't very professional (gossiping together, not friendly, horrible at phrasing simple questions), which was a surprise. At the end of the interview, we were told that we would hear back in a few days about their decision. I didn't hear back for three weeks, when they finally called and asked me to come in for a second interview. The first interview had turned me off working for the store though and I had already accepted a job somewhere else that had a much more efficient and positive interview process.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
There were the usual interview questions (Why Gap? What experience managing others do you have? Name a time where you had to call out a coworker for not doing their job?...)
The hardest question was: Pretend what you're wearing is from Gap. Sell us on what you are currently wearing.
Group interview with other candidates with the store manager. Arrive at the store and wait for other candidates. Then interview happens in break room and it lasted roughly about 30-60minutes
It was a group interview of about 10-12 people. If I remember correctly they take you to the back, the stock room, and ask almost everyone the same question. The interview lasted about 30 minutes.
It was very easy, one in person interview with the general manager and then I was accepted! Mainly personality and behavioral questions were asked, and I think enthusiasm on my end helped the most.
