      Visual/Merchandising Supervisor Interview

      1 Mar 2011
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Gap in Jan 2011

      Interview

I was first called to come in for an interview with the store manager. This was a great experience. I immediately felt comfortable, and had really great conversations with her. She asked me many questions about customer service, leadership, and motivation. An additional part of the interview was to go out to the floor and pick out an outfit, come back, and describe why you chose it as if you were selling it. After the interview she told me she would pass me along to the Regional Manager for an interview because she felt I was a good fit. A couple weeks later I had my interview with the RM. The interview with the Store Manager lasted about 90 minutes. This went well too, she was really easy to talk to, mostly asked predetermined questions that she created, then when I once again went to the floor to choose an outfit, she thought of a few other questions. These questions were mostly about leadership and development, goals, and motivation. This interview lasted about 30 min. I was then passed on for a what they called a peer interview. This was a phone interview with another store manager at a different store. She asked me additional questions about motivation, and how I would deal with problem employees. This lasted about 20 minutes. I made sure to follow up after I did not hear from them when they said they would call. And they were still working on a decision, but it is good to follow up, especially for a job where sales are important.

      Question 1

What would you do if you had to deal with an employee who was not meeting expectations, or acted as if they did not want to be there?
