      Operations Engineer Interview

      16 Jan 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at General Motors (GM) in Jan 2015

      Interview

Had my resume pulled from career services at my university. We had a phone screening, and I was contacted the next week to set up a face-to-face interview. The process took three to four weeks overall. It was one of the easier interviews I've been to. The people were extremely nice and personable. Overall a great learning experience!

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They had a series of behavioral questions (tell me about a time when..) with three answers to each: Give me an example, What was the outcome, what did you learn? There was also one additional technical question. It's not a "whats the port number of HTTP" type question, but rather "solve this problem" type thing.

      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I interviewed at General Motors (GM) (New York, NY)

      Interview

Had face-to-face with campus recruiter, then a Skype interview, during which I was told I would be contacted with the outcome within the next 2 weeks. I was not contacted, and my email attempt went unanswered as well.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Describe a time you worked with a group that had a member who didn't assist.

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at General Motors (GM)

      Interview

The interview was more about the experience that I already had, there was a small portion about what I knew. It seemed like it was more important that I had experience in the industry.
