I applied through ZipRecruiter. My application was received with a request for a phone screening. The phone screen was about thirty minutes long, was fairly relaxed, and the interviewer asked standard questions about my background. After the phone screen, I was asked to come in for an in person interview.
First, let me just say that IMG is located in the dark and somewhat gloomy basement of the Department of Energy, which is disheartening. There were three interviewers in the room, and they told me as soon as we were seated that (surprise!) I'd be interviewing for two positions, which they had failed to mention until I was literally in the chair.
The interview was a constant bombardment of questions from all three people. Each person had a long list of questions that they wanted to ask, and as soon as I'd answered one question, I'd immediately be asked another. No water was offered. Generally I would not expect water, but when you're asked to speak for an hour straight, I think that it should certainly be offered.
I left the room with a hard deadline of when IMG planned to make a decision and get back to me. They missed their deadline. I emailed IMG politely asking for an update, and received a curt and rather rude response saying that no updates or timelines were available.
Several days later, I received a standard rejection email.
Overall, an unpleasant atmosphere and an unpleasant experience. Would not recommend wasting your time applying here.
