      Licensed Personal Banker Interview

      9 Apr 2010
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at J.P. Morgan in Apr 2010

      Interview

I was called by the branch manager to have a interview. I went into the branch, the branch manager asked what I knew about Chase. He asked about my sales background, and asked me questions about my sales experience. He asked me about how I made my sales when times were slow. He told me a lot about the position itself. The base pay is 28-32k. He said the min commisions you would make is 1200, 2000 is not too hard. If you do really good 3,000 or more in commisions. He did ask if I had spoken with the recruiter, and I told him honestly he was the first one with Chase I had spoken to. Not sure why I didnt get screened by the recruiter like most do. He told me he wasnt sure on the timeframe, as to when the next step would be. That was on a Tuesday. The following Monday he called and asked me to come in to have a interview with the District Manager Thursday. I met with the District Manger, this was a shorter interview, 20 to 30 minutes tops. She was professional and nice, but very down to business. We did have to do 1 role play, which entailed me selling her a product that I sold at my previous company. Throughout the interview, she did ask some hard questions, and it was hard for me to tell, how I was doing with the interview. She did ask me why I chose that Branch to apply for. She asked what my weaknesses were at my last job, and asked why I wanted to switch industries. Most of the questions she asked, she dug a lot deeper than the branch manager. If you say you are good at sales, she asks why, and than wants proof and examples. Be sure to have examples, and more than fluff for your interview with the DM. I left really unsure of how I did, she told me they would be in touch soon. I got a call the next day from the recruiter offering me the job. I do have to wait for a background check, fingerprints, and drug test. They did not mention a credit check. It will take me 3 weeks until I can start. The first 2 months I will be studying to get my licensing. After the 2 months I go to take the test, if you pass you get a 1,000 dollar bonus. If you dont pass you are terminated! I did ask the recruiter about the pass rate, she said it was about 90%. I feel that Chase is a great opportunity. I am excited to start.

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at J.P. Morgan

      Interview

You begin with a phone interview from one of the district managers. They basically try to find what your motives are, if you would work hard, and how good of a salesman you would be. Then you are told to interview at a Branch location, in which you speak with a branch manager. It's basically the same interview, but now face-to-face. Do good in those, drug test and you got the job.
