      Graphic Designer Interview

      14 Jul 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Jet Support Services in Jun 2022

      Interview

Nice folks to talk with, but the interview process was drawn-out and disorganized. Four interviews with four different people. To their credit, they answered all of my questions about the day-to-day of the job and were pleasant to talk to. There was also a fair amount of "what did you talk about with So-And-So?" questions and I got the sense that communication between teammates was muddled. I was told that the third interview would be my final one, which was not the case. I had to ask to take a creative test before the fourth interview. A creative test is standard for a graphic design position of this level and I was concerned that nobody had mentioned or offered one. When I received the test assets there was some unexpected bad-mouthing of the temporary designer who had "botched" a recent project. My fourth interviewer expressed surprise when I asked about the salary and benefits. None of my three previous interviewers had been able to answer my compensation questions. They wanted me to do a fifth interview before talking compensation and asked me if my interview process so far was atypical. I said yes: four interviews, no creative test unless asked, and no talk of compensation is very atypical for a graphic design job. I was rejected a few days later and never ended up learning the compensation information. I later accepted an offer from a company with more transparency.
