This is regarding Johnson & Johnson, Santa Clara location
My experience with the Learning & Development (L&D) team left me feeling frustrated and uncertain. While the Lead L&D Specialist has established some training and documentation practices, the overall team lacked consistency, clear guidance, and structured processes. Many of the current staff are contractors, and it often seemed like they were figuring things out as they went along.
During my interview, I asked specific questions about the full-time permanent role, career growth, and professional development. Responses were often vague, redirected, or focused on contractor staff rather than addressing the position I applied for. When discussing team dynamics and culture, there was little clarity or concrete detail.
I shared my experience and confidence in training and development, particularly in aligning new hire orientation, employee development, and additional training courses so participants feel supported and compliant from day one. While I cannot know the Lead’s intentions, my impression from the interview was that my proactive approach and ability to immediately contribute to the team’s success may have created hesitation. The avoidant and inconsistent responses to my questions, along with the lack of clarity around career growth, reinforced this impression.
Communication regarding interview logistics—including remote versus in-person expectations and last-minute presentation requirements—was also inconsistent, adding unnecessary stress.
Overall, the team could benefit from stronger leadership, clearer processes, and structured guidance to ensure staff and candidates have a consistent and supportive experience. Candidates applying here should clarify expectations and professional development opportunities early in the process.
