      Software Engineer, Backend Interview

      13 Nov 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Remote, OR
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Knock (Remote, OR) in Oct 2018

      Interview

The interview process was fairly easy. The recruiter keeps in mind other opportunities you have going on as well to speed up the process, as needed. The recruiter reached out, we had a phone screen with the role and how the interview works. I then spoke to the Engineering Manager of the team (which co-founded Knock I believe). This was a casual, non-technical talk which discussed the role, team, and technology. After speaking to the engineering manager, I received a take home test, which isn't timed directly, but suggested to only spend 2 hours on, but 4 max. It was code structure and design test for the most part relating to their product, but was somewhat challenging (no algorithm / hard data structure testing). Next, I spoke with a lead engineer that reviewed my test, however, we didn't discuss the test directly. We spoke about the team and specific tech again, no further tests here. After this, they had reached an agreement with another candidate, so I didn't go further. There was supposed to be one more technical interview and meet and greets, but that's all.
