      Graduate Engineer Trainee Interview

      23 Nov 2023
      Anonymous employee
      Ānand
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at MG Motor India (Ānand) in Oct 2023

      Interview

I'm excited to share the details of my placement journey at MG Motors. I have put a lot of effort into accumulating guidance for my placement and now I am here to share my own experience of the complete journey in one place. Here's the lowdown on the entire process: If you are really willing to get selected in MG Motors via campus placement this is the most important thing for you to keep in mind. BE PATIENT You will soon realise why did I say so and can’t stop repeating it again and again. Company Name: MG Motors Job Role Offered: Graduate Engineering Trainee Package: 7 LPA Location: Halol, Gujarat Eligibility Criteria: CGPA 7.0 and above, no live or dead backlogs, 70% and above in 10th and 12th Aptitude Test: The aptitude test was a challenge, no doubt. It comprised 35 questions to be tackled in 45 minutes. The sections were diverse. Arithmetic Aptitude: riverboat problem, train speed, etc Data Interpretation: bar chart, pie chart, line chart Verbal Ability: comprehension, synonyms, error spotting, sentence ordering Verbal Reasoning: cause and effect, analogy, seating arrangement, blood relation, syllogism Non-verbal Reasoning: pattern completion, cube and dice, mirror image, embedded images Practice material from examveda and Indiabix is enough. No technical questions were asked. The overall difficulty level was high, and time management was crucial, especially with lengthy and tricky questions. My tip? Don't get stuck on one question. I encountered tough ones early on, so starting from the end and going in reverse order worked for me. Practice a wide range of questions because variations are probable, and speed with a constant eye on the clock is key. PPT: The Pre Placement Talk happened the same day we aced the aptitude test. It was an insightful session covering the company's background, founder details, the origin story, the Graduate Engineering Trainee (GET) role, and the work profile associated with it. Group Discussion: My GD topic was electric vehicles in India, a subject I had thoroughly researched. This preparation gave me a significant advantage and was remarked by the panel as well. A crucial tip for GD: contribute meaningfully, whether you're for or against the topic. Around one-third of the students were selected for the interview. I repeat my words, BE PATIENT. Here is why I say this: MG Motors mailed our campus for placements on the 14th of September, 2023. The anticipation was high, and we eagerly awaited the next steps. The aptitude test was conducted after 2 weeks on the 29th of September. Following that, the results of the aptitude test were declared on the 10th of October, providing a sense of accomplishment to me. The subsequent message detailing the interview rounds arrived on the 19th of October. This period of waiting for communication on the interview details felt like an eternity. Finally, on the 26th of October, the GD and interview rounds unfolded. It was a challenging yet exhilarating experience. However, the post-interview period was the ultimate test of patience. Waiting for the results, which were disclosed on the 16th of November, felt like days not passing at all. The entire process spanned two months, demanding resilience and unwavering patience. Throughout this timeline, there were moments of doubt and discouragement. It's natural to feel nervous and underconfident after each stage. The key, as I learned, is to trust your gut feeling. There were times when alternatives seemed tempting, but sticking to the path and trusting the process proved invaluable. Mixed feelings accompanied each stage I passed – nervousness, excitement, and sometimes self-doubt. However, the lesson learned was clear: never lose hope and be prepared for the waiting game. Receiving replies can take longer than expected, but patience is the bridge to success. So, to anyone navigating a similar journey, my advice is to embrace the waiting, trust your instincts, and keep the faith. The rewards at the end of the patience journey are worth every moment of anticipation.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Personal Interview: My interview lasted 7 to 9 minutes with an HR representative and a department head. They explored various facets, from my family background to detailed questions about my college projects and resume. Electric vehicles were a focus, and they delved into technical aspects like the use of PDU and EDU in a car. The interview wrapped up by discussing my internship experience and inviting any questions I might have. The entire process was a challenging yet enriching experience. The comprehensive evaluation, combined with the focus on technical knowledge, gave me a holistic view of what to expect at MG Motors.
