Initial phone call with the person responsible for looking up for the right candidates. Some skills related questions, nothing too complicated. I appreciated the fact that they were asking meaningful questions, to understand my level of expertise. Next interview was again with the same person plus the CTO. The recruiter had previously warned me that they are interested in people who are active and have a lifestyle similar to the company's product, ie hicking, biking etc.
Although the interview went well, I didn't get an offer. Although my technical skills were fine, I suppose I wasn't fitting the lifestyle they were looking for (???). So, fellow engineers, being good at your job no longer suffices. Employers require you to also fit the lifestyle of the "product" . So I guess:
- You should eat a lot of takeaway if you work for a food delivery app
- You should go on a lot of dates if you work for a dating app
Etc.
