      Executive Development Program Interview

      6 Apr 2011
      Anonymous employee
      Washington, DC
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Macy's (Washington, DC) in Mar 2011

      Interview

I met the recruiter at a career fair and gave her my resume and also applied online through my schools career services site, I got an email that I was selected for a first round interview at my schools career center. The night before the interview we had a little social with all the interviewers and all the candidates to give us a chance to mingle and get to know our interviewers and become more relaxed. My two interviews the next day were great and my interviewers were very friendly and I was happy because I had spoken to them the night before so it was like picking up our conversation from where we had left it. Three weeks later I got an email saying that my recruiters really liked me and wanted me to come for a second round interview at their NYC corporate office, they made all the arrangements and flew me and booked a hotel for me along with all the other candidates from different schools. It was a two day process, but the first day was mostly an ice breaker and an overview of the next day. The next day we were split into teams and so that it would be easier to complete all the activities, we all had 2 one on one interviews, an individual presentation, a group exercise and a Q&A section, we also had the chance to talk to many people who work for the company and ask them questions many of them were also our interviewers. Having gone through the interview it makes yo understand the culture of the company and the 2 days spent in NYC makes you really know whether or not you want a career in retail. Macy's is an amazing company with great people and they treasure their employees and that is the reason why I chose to work with them, even though I had another job offer with another big name retailer.
