I arrived on time. I was put in a conference room on the same hall as the office suite to fill out a paper application. About 10 minutes after I had finished the application a woman rushed out of the office suite and tried to shake my hand from across the hallway. One of her first questions, if not the first, was whether I had ever considered seeking work through a temp agency. Then she proceeds to tell me I am over qualified, that I look like someone in the human services field. I do have a degree in that field, but I also have experience in the field she was looking to hire. They were look for one years’ experience, I had a year and a half, although it was several years ago. I express I was willing to learn. She also asked if I had children and when I looked at her because I couldn't believe she was asking this illegal question she asked it again and added because many schedule changes have been required this year. Apparently, people are needing accommodation to put their children on the bus in the morning. I answered that by saying I am available to work 8:30-5pm. When she asked about salary requirements I gave a range within the amount listed on the job posting, to which she grimaced. She acted like she would give my candidacy actual consideration. I knew better considering her first question and sure enough I got the rejection email about two days later. I would suggest avoiding this place because of the unprofessional demeanor, unfriendly (never smiled once), illegal questions, and if you happen to be a parent, well, I would say don't expect accommodation to put your kids on the bus. I don't think I had a chance at this job. It's not like they couldn't see my experience on my resume. So I am not sure why they bothered to waste my time and treat me poorly.
