I was "hired" to start today. Since I never officially started my employment, I wanted to write this warning to anyone who might think about applying here.
It is the most unprofessional work environment I have ever found myself in. Jason did not communicate with anyone from corporate about me starting today, so I was in the office waiting for the paperwork to be sent over for 2 hours. During the two hours of waiting, Jason told me two times that I needed to "dress more professionally". This caught me off-guard because I was told to dress comfortably because the shop outside did not have AC yet, and I might be out there for some parts of the day assisting with shipping, deliveries, and other things. (Being in the south in Texas, it's hot, humid, and miserable out there as soon as it hits 80 degrees outside.) I only found out today from Jason that I would never need to be out in the shop, ever, so I needed to dress more professionally. Then, he motions to me "come here" and pulled me into a side office and took some items out of a closet that I immediately recognize as retractable banners. He said "put these together." The banners were over 6 feet tall and I couldn't reach (I am short) so he helped me with one and left. So I had to stand on a chair to put the last three together myself. I continued to wait for the new hire paperwork to be sent and listened to him talk down to his employees and be rude to me before I was even hired. Also, I was not given any formal, written employment agreement with my salary listed or the title I applied for. When I asked Jason if I would be presented with an official employment offer with this information, he said, "no, we don't do that." When the other female employee was helping me with getting ahold of the person in charge of sending the paperwork over, he interrupts her and says, "no, shes self sufficient and is going to do it herself." talking about ME when I was sitting right there! When I was finally given the new hire paperwork packet, I began going over the documents. He then comes over and goes through the packet and starts removing some of the items, saying that I didn't need these, removes some of the documents, and told me which documents to sign. I was not comfortable signing anything until I had my salary and job title in writing.
I waited for him to leave since he was basically over my shoulder, expecting me to sign paperwork without documented confirmation of my job title and pay. I also found out that SIX people have been hired there and left in the last 3 months. SIX. Others that I met there were also on the fence about quitting. So, I gathered up all of the paperwork with my name on it, left without a word, blocked his number and didn't look back.
Jason is rude, misogynistic, unorganized, noncommunicative, and unprofessional.
