My interview experience with New_ Public reflected a team that’s clearly passionate about its mission and thoughtful about who they bring on board. Most of the process felt intentional and conversational, with strong alignment around values and purpose. If you're energized by building a more humane internet and working alongside thoughtful collaborators, New_ Public is worth considering. Just be prepared for a bit of variability in structure—it’s a small, evolving team:
- Engaging, values-aligned conversations with team members.
- The process allowed for authentic dialogue, not just a skills assessment. They also moved very quickly at each stage, which I appreciated.
- Clear effort to build a mission-driven, reflective culture.
- Some aspects of scheduling and structure could be improved—one interview was booked outside of my stated availability and felt less anchored in a clear agenda.
I had two rounds of interviews and they were friendly, though curious and thorough in asking about my work experience. Nothing felt out of the blue and the interview went smoothly. The position ended up being changed to another role.
Submitted a cover letter. Two weeks later received an email to set up an interview. 30 minute initial call with the direct supervisor. Covering questions of interest and experience, with questions focusing on previous fundraising experience.
