The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Nordstrom (Bloomington, MN) in Sept 2010
Interview
I received an email requesting a phone interview rather quickly after my application was submitted. Keep your notes in front of you during the phone interview - even if you don't use them, you'll know that they're there. Research the company's history and be prepared to share your knowledge with the interviewer. I was asked to come in for a 1:1 interview. I arrived early and waited in the lobby. My interview with HR went extremely well. My interviews with the four department managers, however, went horribly. I was so unprepared! Make sure you know about the products that you want to sell, and practice selling them beforehand! A week after the interview, after not hearing back from HR, I called and was told that they were going ahead with other candidates. I know that I'm qualified for the position, but I was caught (through my own fault) unprepared.
So easy, I went to a job fair and was hired on the spot. They need people in the kids department, that's the easiest section to get into. They just ask about your personality and who you are.
Was inside Barton creek mall, hiring manager was prompt and clear with questions ranging from how I would handle difficult customers, to my personal experiences that could apply to the job.
