It was a pretty quick process. I applied to the 5 stores in my area and about 4-5 days later I went around to each store to introduce myself (i highly recommend!!!) it was a flop for all except one store who had already pulled my application and was planning on calling me to schedule an interview. the salon leader was so fun and laid back. we sat at a bench in the pet hotel area and she asked me some basic questions to get to know me and then scheduled an interview the next day. again the interview was super relaxed and casual. i dressed pretty professional but i think you can wear something a bit more casual as long as it’s clean. the interview went amazing she kept saying she was super impressed with my answers. she asked if i could pass a drug test (yet incidentally petsmart doesn’t do drug tests anymore and i never had to take one) and then said that she really liked me and was “going to give me a chance” about 5-6 hours later the store manager called me saying that he’s heard i’m “starting with them as a bather” and that the next step is to do my background check then after a day or two that’ll clear and i’ll come in for paperwork and then i can get started. the background check was a few questions in an email he sent. the interview and phone call were on monday and when thursday rolled around i was thoroughly panicked that i had lost the job for some weird reason so i called and the store manager was really chill and relaxed on the phone and he was like oh yeah i totally forgot to see if it cleared and then he checked and said great it’s all clear if you could come in tomorrow for id and i-9 which takes about 24hrs to be put in the system and then you will start on boarding on monday. so i’m super excited to have gotten the job! i go in tomorrow to do the paperwork and i-9! it was honestly a really fast process but definitely do yourself a favor and go introduce yourself in person!

The manager took me into the break room and just asked about my experience with animals and my past jobs. She said the grooming manager would reach out in a few days but she never did.
