I applied online. I interviewed at Portcullis Legals in Dec 2024
Interview
I went through the interview process and was offered a job. I signed my employment contract and I was very excited to start a new opportunity, I then liased with several different employees regarding my onboarding process and start date. Originally, I was informed my laptop, etc would be posted to me after the Christmas period. This was then changed to suggest an employee will meet with me to drop this off instead. This was then changed again where I was requested to go to the office in Plymouth instead. Upon receiving this email, I called the office and requested someone call me back as I had a few suggestions, one of which potentially going to Plymouth early UNPAID, as this would potentially be better for my situation. I never received a call back to discuss, instead I received a very blunt and unprofessional email retracting my offer of employment 2 working days before my official start date. Left bewildered I responded via email to explain there has been a lapse in communication as I was trying to be more helpful. Receiving no reply, I was very panicked, so I called one of the contacts I had at the company and left a voicemail explaining in more detail. Having then given the situation further thought, I concluded that this would not be a company that aligns with my personal or professional beliefs based on how I have been treated throughout this process. Apparently picking up the phone is a step too far!
For a company that boasts a lovely working environment and team, it certainly feels like a dodged bullet.
