I would like to share my experience with Rayner regarding the application process for the Process Engineer position at the Sousel site. Following a promising phone screen and a technical interview, I was graciously invited to the on-site interview, despite the site being a 5-hour drive from my location in Portugal.
Upon arriving, I was surprised to find that the focus of the interview shifted significantly towards fluency in Portuguese, a requirement not mentioned in the job description. I had previously communicated my limitation in speaking Portuguese during the initial interviews. In the end, I was not selected for the position, which is perfectly understandable, as companies must prioritize their best interests.
However, what perplexes me is the decision to invite me for an on-site interview without clarifying the language requirement, especially when it wasn't outlined in the job description. The frustration escalated when I called the head of engineering to seek clarification. Despite my efforts to understand the purpose of the meeting before the interview, I was simply told it was a "surprise." To add to the disappointment, when I called him post-interview to discuss the situation, he abruptly hung up on me.
Regrettably, based on this experience, I cannot recommend Rayner as an employer.
