      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Read AI in Dec 2025

      Interview

👎 Negatives - I want to own my mistake first: I missed the last interview, fully my fault. Still, some context matters. I went through 6 interviews, showed up early to all of them, came prepared with questions and company background, and followed all their guidelines. The missed interview was rescheduled last minute, and I received three Google Calendar invites with the exact same title, no names to tell them apart, all called “Interview with Read AI.” I accepted two and missed the third. As soon as I noticed, I emailed them about 30 minutes after the scheduled time. I never heard back. After everything, I wish I’d been given a bit more understanding or at least a rejection. - The process didn’t respect time on either side. I had 5 interviews, a portfolio presentation interview, plus one more interview that I missed. The number of interviews didn’t bother me, but many of them repeated the same questions. Their own product lets them search past interviews with one click. They could see how I already answered the same questions multiple times. I was actually using their product myself to prepare for the next interviews. Using it properly would have saved everyone time. Instead, it felt like most of the team didn’t care and were just asked to run interviews, jumping in last minute and pulling questions from ChatGPT. - I could give a higher star review, but I read other reviews from people who had the same experience. That makes me feel like they don’t improve their process. - What pushed me to write this is the lack of communication. I never got a rejection or any follow-up. I understand that missing an interview can be a deal breaker, but I followed up three times and got no response. That’s a waste of both my time and theirs. At the very least, send a rejection. 👍 Positives - The product is genuinely interesting and easy to understand. - The team seems great. I met the design team and they all came across as skilled but also fun to work with. The UX researcher especially stood out, I’d love to work in a small team with such a knowledgeable UX researcher. - Benefits, pay, and the office location and setup all sounded really good. - The interview process moved forward very quickly until it didn’t :D

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      - Why do you want to work at Read Ai, - What must be in place for you to do your best work as a designer? - How do you balance user goals versus business goals? Can you give an example? - How do you balance qualitative insights with quantitative data in your research? - How do you handle disagreements with product managers and developers.
