      Security Analyst Interview

      15 May 2023
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at ReliaQuest in Feb 2023

      Interview

A recruiter had reached out over LinkedIn to schedule a call. The initial call consisted of a screening process with behavioral/culture questions and an assessment was assigned afterwards. The assessment consisted of logs, intrusions, and other examples of potential situations that may occur in a SOC environment. I was then contacted to review the results and approved to move to the next phase: a comprehensive technical interview. This phase was undoubtedly the most difficult in terms of depth. Two senior employees navigate you through situational questions to see how deep your knowledge goes. They were extremely wise and help steer you in the right direction if you're not sure. This is a critical thinking phase. Talk through your thought process and you'll receive help with any gaps along the way. Another round of review and feedback is conducted with the recruiter shortly after. If you did well in this phase, the recruiter assigns a behavioral/cognitive assessment to complete and a writing sample. If approved, the next phase is a behavioral/technical interview with a pair of leaders. The style of these questions are from the first initial screening with the recruiter and the technical interview. Both interviewers were well versed in their field and helpful. The team will then review feedback and results with your recruiter to establish a decision. In my case, I was extended an offer and accepted. It's said in many reviews here, but the process in which RQ conducts their interviews truly shows their desire to hire the best talent in the industry. My thanks and kudos go to my recruiter for all the advice and the interviewers for their feedback. This was a rigorous process, but there wouldn't be any value if it was too easy. I throughly enjoyed this process and the challenges it set forth.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

If you were an adversary who gained access to a system and could do anything you wanted, what would you do? Name different types of malware and explain the history of one. How do you stay up to date on cybersecurity news/topics? Tell me about a time when you failed. How do you handle the situation when a client has clicked a link in a phishing email? What is XSS and SQLi? How do you prevent it? Why ReliaQuest?

Expect questions like "how do you handle failure?" and "tell us about a time you had a difficult situation and how you handled it." Also from real interviews: "Tell me about yourself", "Why do you want to work here?"

      Interview

I initially did a phone interview before moving on to one or two more Zoom calls for more questions. After I completed a 25-question exam and passed. If I recall correctly, I had another zoom call and then received a phone call saying I was no longer in consideration.

      Security Analyst Interview

      13 Feb 2025
      Anonymous employee
      Tampa, FL
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at ReliaQuest (Tampa, FL) in Feb 2025

      Interview

The interview process at ReliaQuest was both challenging and rewarding. I was first contacted by a recruiter on LinkedIn about the opportunity, and knowing ReliaQuest’s reputation, I immediately jumped on it. My recruiter was incredibly supportive throughout the process, providing guidance and clear expectations every step of the way. The journey began with a screening call that included a mix of technical questions and a discussion about my background and the role. From there, I completed a technical assessment, which was tough but manageable with the right preparation. After passing, I moved on to the technical interview, an hour-long session with two Senior Employees who asked rapid-fire technical and scenario-based questions. This interview truly tests both your technical knowledge and problem-solving approach, so preparation is key. Following the technical stage, I completed behavioral and cognitive assessments, along with a writing sample. Finally, I had the in-person leadership interview, which was both challenging and insightful. One thing that stood out throughout the entire process was ReliaQuest’s passion for excellence—everyone I met, from recruiters to leadership, shared a deep commitment to their work and their team. It was an incredible experience, and I’m thrilled to be joining such a talented and driven team at ReliaQuest!
