I applied online. I interviewed at Reolink in Mar 2026
Interview
The interview process consisted of a single technical interview with no prior HR screening.
The company is headquartered in Singapore with Chinese origins. At the beginning of the interview, I was asked whether I could speak Mandarin, although the interview itself proceeded in English. There were 2 teams, one from Singapore and China.
The technical interviewer from Singapore came across as somewhat condescending during the discussion, which made the interview feel less constructive than I had expected.
One area for improvement is communication after the interview. I did not receive any follow-up or rejection notification regarding the outcome.

Interview
Pretty ad-hoc, where there were lots of questions asked based on what the hiring manager needs, but doesn't seem like there's a structure to it. Even the hiring manager isn't clear on what the role needs, which makes me think that i am in for a tough role if i were to be accepted for it

Question 1
How good are you in using Power-BI and share your experiences with it
The interview process initially felt positive but ultimately became very disorganized and stressful.
After three interview rounds and a presentation, I was first rejected for the role. A few weeks later, I was contacted again and told the position was mine if I wanted it, as the selected candidate had accepted another offer. I was welcomed to the team, told HR would prepare the contract, and even encouraged to “celebrate.”
Based on these conversations, I put other opportunities on hold. Less than one business day later, I received an email saying the role had been cancelled due to an “internal strategic adjustment.”
While I understand that priorities can change, communicating a job-offer-level commitment and reversing it almost immediately shows a lack of alignment and respect for candidates’ time. This caused unnecessary stress and uncertainty and could have been avoided with clearer communication.
I hope the company improves its recruitment practices going forward.
