ANOTHER GHOSTER! (MAJOR RED FLAG)
Initially I was overly impressed thinking this company had perfected their hiring process due to how quickly they reached out after my application was submitted. I was 100000% wrong.
I was reached out to me via email less than 24 hours after I applied, and we scheduled an interview for the following Monday. I was overly prepared, kept up with the questions, even having several of my own at the end, as I’m just as interested in their company. I was advised they'd be in touch with me to let me know something, good or bad. Almost two weeks later, absolutely nothing.
I’m not excusing companies any longer for their lack of communication with candidates. It’s too many automated functions that can be utilized to streamline communication if they in fact do use “not having time to reach out” as an excuse. I as a candidate made time to talk to you, so you can take 3 mins of your time to tell you weren't interested in meeting with me for a second round. So simple.
What this tells me is this start up lacks decency and fails to communicate properly. As candidates, it’s time to take our power back. Hold companies to the same standards they hold us too. Bad communication is a huge turn off. Ghosting typically lets me know that a person doesn’t have the strength to have uncomfortable conversations, which simply comes with the territory.
Just cautioning anyone in the job hunt right now who needs to hear this. It’s hard enough out here picking and choosing who to spend time applying with. Applying takes time and mental energy. Don’t waste it on any company who wouldn’t spend it on you. You deserve better!
Almost 2 weeks later and the posting is still up. Another company searching for their “perfect unicorn candidate”. When will they learn, they don’t exist! This industry will NEVER get it. It’s a balance, and many of us see that companies still don’t understand this. With Cybersecurity, you’re either going to get an extremely great WORK fit, or an extremely great CULTURE fit, RARELY BOTH in one candidate. This posting will be up for the next 10 years at this rate.
