If you are not Indian and wanting to be part of a team where there are Indian managers/directors, don't bother. It is obvious these Roku employees are trying to exclude anyone outside of their race/culture. The interview was really simple where the questions were general and had barely anything to do with the position. Yet the feedback on why I was rejected was complete BS. The interviewer completely made up a reason that was nonsense. My guess was that they had to interview someone non-Indian to make it seem like they are unbiased. I have tons of experience in this position technically and from a cross functional point of view but none of that matters. I hope this message gets to the CEO about what's brewing at Roku so the interview patterns and results can be analyzed. Non-Indians and non-Indian Americans are being deliberately kept out of companies and positions in a manner such as this.
If you have had this similar interviewing experience , please post as there is no other way I see this problem getting better. I am finally posting this after getting fed up as this has happened to me many times. When you gone through as many interviews as I have with my experience and find the same pattern of interview style and feedback, it is not a fluke.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Roku (Cambridge, England) in Aug 2024
Interview
Quite a few interviews (seven in total!) but they were relatively straightforward. Seems it was more to assess 'fit' as opposed to assessing whether I could do the job more than anything.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Roku (Santa Monica, CA) in Jan 2022
Interview
Three rounds of interview. First round HR, Second round hiring manager. Third round panel of three to four people you would work with cross department. Interview process takes around 2-4 weeks depending on the hiring manager/HR.
The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Roku (New York, NY) in Oct 2021
Interview
This was one of the worst interviews I have ever had. I was given the run around about interviewing for weeks. I finally had it scheduled and the hiring manager made me feel so uncomfortable. He came off as rude and condescending. I tried to explain my experience and he cut me off and said it wasn't comparable. Worst 20 minutes of my life.
