      Vibration/Aeroelastic Engineer Interview

      16 Feb 2013
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Derby, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 months. I interviewed at Rolls-Royce (Derby, England) in Feb 2013

      Interview

The interview was supposed to be conducted by two people. On the day of the interview, the security staff informed me that one of the person who was meant to interview me would not turn up. I was only called for the interview 20 minutes late. The team (3) had not booked a room, therefore the first 5 minutes were spent moving room to room to find a place to be interviewed. After reaching the room one person started reading my C.V. and said that this is a specialist role and then he recommended to call another guy for the interview. Another person then came from the vibration team. During the interview the only question I was asked on vibration was on a mass - spring system equation. The rest was based on RR's standard questionnaire which didn't contain anything about vibration. During the entire stage of the interview process I was neither given an opportunity to ask any questions on the role nor did they give me an information about the role. I found the main interviewer to be negative, the other two were ok. Saying that I did make a couple of basic errors.
