Started with a positive HR phone call and some email back-and-forth, although communication sometimes required chasing for confirmation. I was told the next stage would be an “informal chat,” however on the day there was no calendar invite, so I assumed it would be via phone. After checking, I found out it was actually on Teams and had simply been missed in regards to invites been sent out.
Once on the call, the team themselves were lovely, knowledgeable, and clearly very strong in their areas. The business also seems to have strong potential, particularly in D2C. However, the interview itself was far more formal and task-focused than communicated, including questions around what I would change on the website - while also being told the entire site theme had changed only an hour earlier, which made preparation difficult.
The biggest issue was the overall organisation and communication throughout the process. After the interview, I heard nothing for 20 days before receiving feedback and next steps, by which point I had already accepted another opportunity.
The role and questions themselves were suitable for an experienced Shopify eCommerce professional, but the process felt disorganised and lacking in clarity. I’d encourage the company to provide candidates with clearer expectations and more timely communication moving forward.
