      Head of Education Interview

      3 Nov 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at Shout Out UK (London, England) in Sept 2025

      Interview

Review: I applied for a Head of Education role in early September and went through a multi-stage process including two interviews, an online task, and a pitch presentation. I was told I’d receive a decision and full feedback by 20th October. Despite following up twice after that date, I received no response until 28th October — a generic rejection email citing “volume of applications” as the reason for not providing feedback. While I understand recruitment pressures, the lack of communication after significant time investment was disheartening. I took time off work, prepared thoroughly, and engaged in good faith. The final message felt impersonal and dismissive, especially given the initial tone of the process. What’s more frustrating is that the role was publicly announced on social media with emphasis on the successful candidate’s experience in education — a quality I also bring, with years of strategic leadership and curriculum development. The process lacked transparency and basic courtesy. I hope the organisation reflects on how it treats candidates, particularly those applying for senior roles. Professionalism and respect should extend beyond the hire. Advice to Management: If you promise feedback and timelines, honour them. Candidates invest time, energy, and trust — especially for leadership roles. A thoughtful, timely response goes a long way in maintaining your reputation and attracting strong applicants in future.
