I applied online. I interviewed at Skuld (Oslo) in May 2025
Interview
Experience and background based discussion which mainly sought correlation with the company's values. Friendly environment. Not very technical, more mentality focused. It lasted almost 1 hour with a panel of three. It was more about past experience and whether you could prove to be a good fit to the existing team.
informal, friendly. Put at ease and welcomed right away. More of a chat than interview. lovely company. Good values and culture. Very nice office. 1st interview one person and 2nd interview 2 people.
I applied to Skuld Oslo for a position as backend developer in their IT team.
First interview in their process was a 'get to know each other talk'.
Second interview was a technical one and it was preceded by a personality test and logical thinking test. I completed both tests online and the results were discussed during the interview. I also got asked some technical questions, for example to write a method that will reverse a String. I was asked to talk about my tasks at my current job.
Third interview was preceded by a lengthy case study, where I was supposed to learn a technology that is new for me. It was JavaScript Vue. I was to present my work process. At the end of this interview I got asked how many children I have. I have answered this openly as the company seemed very open towards employees with children. They even have anti-discrimination statements in their manifests. Further process was supposed to be only formalities by HR.
Next step was HR asking me for references, they required two references. One from a team lead and one from work colleague. I had no team lead references from previous jobs, so I got asked to provide one from my current place of employment. It seemed like the last step of the process, so I provided them the details. In the end I was asked for 3 references and got a comment that all of them were good or very good.
As a next step I was asked to have a videochat with their COO. This was supposed to be a ‘he would like to meet you too’ kind of interview.
During that interview I was asked:
- If I have children
- How many
- What does my partner do
- How do we share responsibilities for our children between us. For example when they get sick
- How do we cope without help from grandparents
- If I am overtired or if I get overwhelmed, by my personal life
- What do I think about overtime in the context of my family life
- Would I like to have more children
- Were all of my children 'planned'
This was not the only topic of the interview, the whole conversation lasted around 1 hour. I also got asked other things, like 'tell me about your weaknesses' etc.
The feedback I got was that ‘they are very happy with me, but have decided to not hire anyone for this position’.
