HR/Administrative person called back after I applied online. I requested a job description be emailed to me (after applying to many jobs at many companies I wanted to ensure I had the correct information in my hands to prepare for the interview). The person sounded confused and said I would be provided with a job description when I came in for the interview. First sign of poor communication.
It was unclear if this position was temp-to-perm, I did not receive a job description when I arrived but did have to fill out another application in which they requested a re-write of your resume as well as reason for leaving previous positions.
Interview on site was conducted in 2 parts. First one-on-one interview was with senior leadership. The person I spoke to was very pleasant and engaging, open to answering questions about the position that they had the ability to answer and the benefits involved. All benefits start after a waiting period: 3 months probationary period, 4 months to access NJ minimum sick days, 1 year to access 5 days of vacation, health benefits, and 401k.
Second part of the interview was a panel with two people, a manager and a QA representative. The QA representative barely spoke a word during the interview and appeared frightened. The manager barely looked up from my resume and asked general questions about experience. During a gap of silence I asked a question and the interviewers completely ignored me. At the end I was given the opportunity to ask more questions and the manager refused to/was unable to answer any basic questions about the job (describe a typical work day, who does this position report to, what hours will this shift be, etc.).
Steer clear, unwelcoming environment and unengaging interviewer in QC. Interviews are intended to be conversations and Soma Labs could do with training their interviewers.
