I applied online. I interviewed at Starbucks (Makati City) in May 2015
Interview
The initial interview was a group interview. Then once you passed you will fill up a form. The last part was 2 interviews with the Store Manager and District Manager.
The initial interview was a group interview. But it felt like a one-on-one interview only with everyone inside the room. I was expecting it will be a bit of a discussion where everyone can answer. I think if it was like that, then why not just handle a one-on-one interview?
I applied online and mentioned about my Alopecia. Few days before I was informed with the interview, I had my entire hair cut. Basically, I showed up bald. I passed the initial interview. I was on the second process where we have to fill up a form about our personal information with 3 questions. We submitted the form and waited for the next evaluation. Before the results were given, I was called and as expected the HR person asked me about my hair. I was honest and informed her about my Alopecia. Five of us applicants were called and it seems around 4 or maybe all of us received a regret letter. It just doesn't make sense how we or in this case, they (the other 4 who were called, mine could be because of my Alopecia) did not make it because of a form which asked around 80% of personal information. Personal information like past employment, SSS, Philhealth, TIN and so forth.. They just prolonged the wait when we could've ended our hope and accepted that we failed during the interview. I was confident I did great. I am aware that the reason is not usually explained why an applicant failed, but passing then failing the "form" is just nonsense.
First interview went well, just the basic behavioral questions that should be answered using the STAR method. Second interview was less questions but with the district manager. Still waiting to hear back (if they reach out at all).
Interview questions [5]
Question 1
Tell me about a time where you had to navigate a situation where the supervisor wasn’t available.
Received an email asking to schedule an interview for the following week. The interview took place in the store itself, and took about 15 minutes. The questions were pretty average.
Basically a short chat about my availability, my interest in the job, why I want to work there, how familiar I am with coffee and what my past experiences in hospitality were.
