I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Super.com (Toronto, ON) in Jan 2017
Interview
I had applied through AngelList for an open Operations position during the Christmas holidays. I didn’t think I would hear back for a couple of weeks, but was followed up with an email after just about 15-20 minutes (startup speed!). Within that week, we had scheduled in a phone interview/Hangouts with their VP of Growth.
Step 1: Google Hangouts to learn more about each other; about SnapTravel, the company vision, what I’ve been up to, how my skillset could translate to the company; about me as a person and what I’m looking for, etc.
Step 2: I was provided with a case study with some questions, as well as an Excel Data exercise pertaining to the role itself. It gave me a better idea of what the role entailed and what the company can expect. Part of the case study included quantitative analysis; while a portion of it was related to situational questions – to gain more psychology insight into the candidate.
Step 3: I was brought in for an in-person interview with the VP Growth to meet and go over the case study in-person. I was able to present my answers and validate my thinking.
Step 4: 2nd week into the process, I was brought in for an in-person interview with the co-founders (CEO and CTO). I also had the ability to ask questions and learn more about the different areas of the business from marketing, development, customer support, etc.
Step 5: A week after this (3rd week I applied), the CEO reached out and asked to go for coffee. He wanted to re-iterate the role, ensure that I was on board, then congratulated me with an offer.
Overall, it was a very transparent and great experience! Even if I wasn’t hired, I would’ve appreciated the time and effort involved from the leadership and the ability to learn more about them and the business!
