      Engineering Interview

      4 Sept 2009
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Tesla in Mar 2009

      Interview

After submitting my resume online, I was first contacted via telephone where I had to answer technical questions. A supervisor then called me and conducted another interview, mostly asking about my interests and background. I was then scheduled for an onsite interview which consisted of 5-6 1:1 interviews. Mostly technical questions were asked based on the contents of my resume. The people seemed to be very proud to be working there and were genuinely excited about their product. You get some show-offs, of course, but most of them were pretty laid-back.

All Phone Interviews. First with HR, then with engineers/managers. Most of the questions reflected on the resume or would demonstrate the thought process of the interviewee. I would suggest to know your resume and to have an idea of the group/position you are getting interviewed for.

      Engineering Interview

      17 Mar 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at Tesla in Mar 2017

      Interview

I was contacted by a recruiter without ever having expressed interest in working for Tesla. Communications were pushy and rushed, asking for interviews with less than 24 hour notice, then when replying within 150 minutes, schedules had already changed and was forced to schedule a new time, again with less than 24 hour notice. Within 3 hours of the interview, received another request to reschedule. When conducting predatory interviewing, it is best not to show signs of the chaos and lack of ability to plan even 24 hours in advance.

      Engineering Interview

      16 Nov 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Fremont, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Tesla (Fremont, CA) in Jun 2015

      Interview

Was referred to this position by a friend who has a friend working there. Recruiter reached out to me to give me more information about the position and set up an interview for me and the manager of the team I will be working with. Estimated wait time: ~4 days for first actual "interview" ~2 days to notify if I got the job ~1 week to send offer letter and 3 days to accept offer It was pretty fast for me because I got the job in June nearing the end of the school year. The manager that interviewed me quite like me so he told me he'd reflect the success of our phone conversation to the recruiter. The recruiter then sent me offer letter and HR followed up with me until employment.
