I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at The Brenner Group (San Francisco, CA) in Dec 2016
Interview
The Brenner Group was engaged to assist in a CFO search in the San Francisco Bay area. After responding to their listing on LinkedIn, I was soon contacted by a recruiter and asked to set up a time for a phone screening. We arranged a time within a few days. We had a good discussion and the recruiter suggested I seemed like an ideal candidate and promised to send a more detailed job description. However, at some time during the call the recruiter asked if I was familiar with Armanino LLP, which apparently owns/controls Brenner Group. She indicated she would have to find out if my current experience with Armanino servicing some of our audit needs would disqualify me from this search. She didn't think it would be a problem but said she would check it out. She also promised to forward a more detailed job description and more information on the organization and benefits.
I followed up to thank her for her time, and to express my sincere interest in the position, but received no response. I followed up a second and third time asking if she would be able to send me the additional information she had promised...again, no response. I found the entire process unprofessional and it has tarnished not only my perspective on the Brenner Group, but the reputation of Armanino as well.
