I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at The Carrera Agency in Dec 2025
Interview
I appreciate being considered for the Senior UX/UI Designer role, but I found parts of the interview process concerning and wanted to share feedback that may help future candidates.
During the screening interview, I was asked why I still have an accent and how long I have lived in the U.S. As an immigrant professional, I communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and have built a successful career in product design. Questions about accent or origin felt unrelated to evaluating my skills or experience.
Additionally, I was told it appeared I was “reading answers,” even though I wasn’t. Because English is not my first language, I tend to look down for a second when thinking through a question, which may have caused misunderstanding. I practice extensively for interviews and take every opportunity seriously, so the comment felt discouraging.
Lastly, I was informed that I’m not the right fit because I don’t have entertainment-industry experience. If entertainment experience is truly required, it would be helpful to state that clearly in the job description or during the initial outreach, so that candidates don’t spend time interviewing for roles where they’re not being seriously considered.
Overall, I believe the interview experience could be more inclusive and aligned with best practices. I hope this feedback helps improve the process for future applicants.

Question 1
Keep asking of each of my projects for every details even I explained that I have experience working with similar structures with entertainment industries.
I applied online. I interviewed at The Carrera Agency
Interview
Two Phone Interviews with the Carrera Agency and a zoom interview with the client. Interviews went very well, both the Carrera Agency and the client were very thorough. After interviewing with the client, the process took almost a month for Carrera to get back with me, not Carrera's fault, it was due to the client. Anyway an offer was made, negotiation applied and an agreement was initiated. Overall a very pleasant interview experience based on others I have had with other companies.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at The Carrera Agency (San Diego, CA) in Sept 2018
Interview
I was referred into the Carerra Agency by fairly credible sources who knew about my work reputation and performance. Now that I have experience with Carerra, I understand they seek to partner with the right people, both on the job seeker and employer side, so they can leverage their relationships to create win-win employment solutions. I worked with Jennifer Taylor who impressed me from the beginning with her knowledge about the employer as well as her knowledge of my profession, which made it very easy to work with her to highlight certain areas of my background, skills and personality that were needed by the organization where I now work. Leveraging my her relationship and reputation with that organization, with two onsite interviews with Carrera's clients, I was working in just a couple weeks, after a 10 month job search, at one of San Diego's best places to work. Very happy and actually worth the wait!
