I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at The Whale (Chicago, IL) in Jul 2024
Interview
The interview process was very long! I applied and heard nothing back for over a month. When I finally did get a call back, we scheduled an interview. The GM then calls me day of to push the interview back an hour. No worries. I show up and the door is locked. I knock for a while before anyone answers. I am then made to wait at least an additional 15 minutes past my scheduled interview time before it even begins. The interview itself was short and incredibly basic. They did mention they are switching to a new pay structure, passing off the duty of fair and equal pay for the hosts to the servers (the servers will now be made to tip out the hosts, something the GM admitted the current hosts expressed disdain for). I was then told that there would be a callback for an additional interview should I be chosen to move forward, and then another after that. That's a whole lot of time commitment for a job that doesn't pay a living wage.
