Interview
I applied for the Management Accountant position through Indeed In January 2025 and received a response from their Internal Recruiter to have a catch up to discuss the next steps. During our initial conversation it was made clear of the different stages required throughout the interview process and a follow up email was given detailing the next steps. This included the completion of an online form and short submission video to be reviewed. Once this stage had been approved, I was invited to videos calls with managers, employees and carried out an assessment in my own time. I was kept up to date with all stages throughout the process via phone call and was very impressed with the details.

Interview
Fast responses from the recruiter which was pleasant. Received a phone call from the recruiter. Had to fill out a lengthy questionnaire on the company's website which gauged your personality. Then had to record a two minute video describing yourself. Afterwards, got invited for a video interview.
This is a remote accountancy practice and I was interviewed for an accountancy role. To my surprise, the video interview was with two people who weren't even accountants... When I tried to explain my years' of experience in an accountancy practice, they didn't even understand what I was talking about so there really was a misunderstanding. Didn't get an offer and think I dodged a bullet.

Question 1
What do you know about the company?
Why The Wow Company?
Do you know Xero?
What kind of client's did you serve in your previous role?
Thank you for your review.
With Wow being a remote-first company we place a strong emphasis on culture to ensure our staff still feel connected and part of the team. With that in mind, our first interview stage is always focused on the personality and culture fit. This is held by two non-technical members of staff who have a strong understanding of what makes a Wowee as well as the technical proficiencies needed to excel here. Once this first interview is completed we then progress to the technical stages, where we would delve into your experience in more detail.
We sincerely apologise if there was a misunderstanding in the interview. We appreciate that it is sometimes frustrating when interviewing if you cannot get your technical expertise across and don't feel understood. It's important to us that everyone gets a fair chance in interviews here at Wow.
That being said, if you would like to discuss further, then we would welcome an email to careers@thewowcompany.com. We wish you the best of luck in your career.

Interview
The interview process was thorough and enjoyable.
With Wow operating a fully remote working model, they are keen to ensure that their culture is maintained and thus the interviews were a nice mix between professional and personal questions.
The initial video and questionnaire was a nice change of pace from other applications I have done and I really felt like they wanted to know more about me as a person rather than just what was on my CV.
I was kept in the loop throughout the process and I enjoyed my experience interviewing, something I can't honestly say for other companies.
