I applied through university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Thomson Reuters (Eagan, MN) in Nov 2011

This saved me the standard multistep process and gave me a beeline to full-time employment with all its benefits and drawbacks. Thomson does utilize a lot of contractors, so if this is an option for you, I recommend it.
