I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Thoughtworks (Bengaluru) in Mar 2021
Interview
Got a call from HR after 20 days of applying. Had a regular discussion regarding the role and my current job and my experience.
Had a pair programming round with one developer who was a very fair critic and asked many valid questions. I definitely learned a thing or two. Asked some basic DS & Algo questions.
Then my first round of interview happened with couple of more developers. They asked me regarding my expertise and they acknowledged straightaway they are not aware of the domain. I started explaining the architecture, they asked some questions regarding a newer technology. I told them straightaway I don't have any exposure to it. Still they told me, "Think and let me know what do you feel about this newer technology?" It seemed silly that they wanted an answer from me for a thing I never worked on. Then they asked many abstract questions like "What if I don't want xxx prog language in ur application? Will you be able to change the entire prog language? NoSQL can do everything, what is the point of using RDBMS? What if the client change the xxx prog language tomo?" These questions were impractical and never seemed to test my skills at all. Then they asked me to design a coding problem using OOPS. They spend nearly 20mins in finding faults with things that doesn't impact the coding logic at all. They were expecting the solution which they decided on which is not the way to assess the candidate. More than that, the interview extended to a lot more time than scheduled and never even seem to acknowledge or ask if I am okay with it.
After a week I got a mail saying I didn't make it. I didn't get any feedback from HR and wasn't interested also since I don't feel it was a fair assessment.
To Recruitment Team : I definitely am not the first person to face this kind of ridiculous interview with TW. Some panel are not evaluating the candidate based on his/her skill but rather than the candidate can give the same solution they think of.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Thoughtworks (Singapore) in May 2026
Interview
The recruiter contacted me via LinkedIn to ask whether interested in the above role. So, I decided to give it a try.
The interviewers were professional and the interviews went well.
It consists of multiple rounds including- 1. Recruiter screen 2. Code pairing interview 3. Technical interview 4. Cultural fit and leadership interview.
After I been through final round interview I was rejected although they claimed I did well in final round.
The feedback given was because the company felt my experiences did not align with their current project needs.
What was disappointing is that this should have been identified during the initial screening stage, as my background was clearly stated in my resume and also during the recruiter screening.
Progressing a candidate through multiple interview rounds, including the final interview, only to reject them for an apparent experience mismatch feels like a waste of the candidate’s time.
The recruitment process was also poorly handled. I only received the update for each interview session after I followed up for a status update, rather than being proactively informed.
Overall, I would not recommend the interview process due to the inefficient screening and communication.
Do not waste your time as I feel they are using candidates to collect certain data or doing market surveys through these processes.
