Technical interview for a Senior Android Engineer position. The interviewer was a backend engineer who didn't seem to know much about mobile development, and provided me with a generic data stuctures & algorithms test. Data structure & algorithms tests for mobile engineers are lazy interviewing, and a great way to hire people who are good at interviewing with no guarantee that they're actually good at the job. Thumbtack would do well to have actual mobile engineers interviewing people for mobile engineering positions, giving tests that actually determine whether or not someone would be good at the job.
