      People and Culture Interview

      23 Mar 2021

      Dublin, Dublin
      Declined offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at TikTok (Dublin, Dublin) in Nov 2020

      Interview

The overall experience was largely positive. I initially had a phone call with a recruiter who was extremely helpful and informative throughout the process, and then several interviews with other members of the global team - all interesting, smart people. The company is in good hands. My advice on improving the interview experience would be to ask candidates about their contact preferences, for example I found Whatsapping an unusual form of contact for an interview and a slight boundary crossing. I would also offer flexibility where possible - I had completed all interview stages and was essentially offered a role, but once I asked about flexible/remote options I never heard back from the recruiter again. Whether this was down to the frustration of me enquiring about flexible working options at the final stage or not, I think given the past year company's will need to adapt better to work-life balance by providing flexible/remote positions where possible. A lot of people are relocating and moving out of built-up areas, so in order to attract the best candidates, I would advise making this part of all roles where possible. People work best where and when suits their lifestyle best, trusting employees to do so is also crucial - employees that are happy in their life outside of work will not let you down. While understandably this cannot be possible for all roles, it certainly is the future of work.
