I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at TikTok (New York, NY) in Apr 2021
Interview
1) Call with recruiter
2) Call with a person in the same position
3) Take home case - highly technical. They gave me 24hrs to complete a case with NO prompt and with around 10K cells of missing data out of a 60k row of raw data spreadsheet, one didn't even know if they wanted a presentation or what. It was the most vague and overwhelming case I've had to go through.
4) Apparently I had passed the case and was making it to final round - but a day after I submitted the case they tell me they are freezing hiring for the position.
It was a cold process, people weren't warm and didn't care much about the nightmare they put me through. I reach out to the recruiter months after to see if they've unfroze it and she says they're now hiring for the role in another country...
The technical case (which I seemed to have passed) made no sense to me, it was just a bad way to test the abilities of a candidate in my opinion, putting them under very stressful conditions.
I wouldn't recommend applying to tiktok.
