I applied in-person. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Trader Joe's (Larchmont, NY) in Sept 2015
Interview
Walked into the Trader Joe's in Hartsdale, NY (I live in Hartsdale) to give in an application I picked up earlier and filled out. I talked to one of the people who I think was a mate and they asked me a series of questions. They called this a "screening" and said I should get a phone call or letter in the mail from them in two weeks. After three weeks, I called them and they told me to wait another week. I called them a week later and was told the same thing. A few after that, I finally got a call from them asking me to set up an interview at their location in Larchmont, NY (the Hartsdale one was full) . I was interviewed by a crew member and two days later, I got a call saying that I was hired and that they were going to give me $13 an hour. I would have loved to work here, but the commute would be too much. I would have to work shifts that end after 10:00 PM, when the buses stop running, and I would have to take a $30+ cab ride home.
It's two to three interviews, the final with the Captain (or highest manager) of the store. The interviews are largely to get to know your personality and how well you would do at customer service.
The interview process was absolutely wonderful! I didn't feel stressed or nervous and it felt like I was just chatting with a friend! Trader Joes is a great company and the interview was great.
Very chill, asked things a lot of job interviews don't, more personal down to earth questions. Made me feel very comfortable. Professional but also cool vibes from everyone who interviewed me. Went to one interview with mates and another with the captain.
