I had 1 phone and two in office interviews over the course of 3 weeks where many times they didn't contact me in the time frame they promised. Initially, the prospect looked perfect. Breakfast and beer on Fridays in addition to a casual dress code. Even my final interview with the president of the company went well. He had a great sales pitch for the company.... easy going, great learning environment, all the over time you wanted, flexible work hours, travel to exciting places (hotel and food paid for), benefits starting day one, and 2 weeks vacation after 1 year. I was offered the job at $13/ hour, but was able to negotiate $13.50 with the agreement we would readdress pay after 90 days. I was also informed that he would not require me to travel due to the age of my children. We agreed on a start date. I showed up the first day and was approached by the president saying he was sorry, but he changed his mind and decided he needed someone who was able to travel. I informed him that I never said I wasn't able to travel that it was him that offered non travel to me. He told me he would need a few more days to make a decision as he had someone else he wanted to interview and would call me after he interviewed them to let me know what he decided. As expected I never heard back from him (Not that I would have accepted the position after his Jekyll and Hyde moment) I was completely shocked to be given an offer and a start date only to show my first day to be turned away. It was after this fiasco I read the reviews on Glass Door and was thankful I didn't get the job after all.
