      Marketing Interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Trulia

      Interview

I had a phone interview that went well and I really enjoyed speaking with the recruiter/talent coordinator at Trulia. She had a great deal of insight about the company and was very transparent throughout the early stages of this process. I heard back the next day that they wanted to schedule a Skype interview for an hour and a half. That also went very well as they stated I was one of their favorites thus far. I then heard back the next day again that they wanted to fly me up for an in person interview. They booked my flight and hotel shortly after but it was two weeks in advance so I had a couple emails back and forth just confirming my travel details between that time. Literally, the day before I was supposed to board my flight, I got a call around 5pm when I just got off work from the recruiter saying that they would be canceling my interview because they changed the role to a more senior position with a few more years of experience. This was already after I had requested two days off of work so I could make the trip up there. It was a very brief call, the recruiter kept saying it had nothing to do with me but they all of a sudden decided they wanted someone more senior. I could tell she was trying to make the call quickly, deliver the bad news and hang up so I didn't get a chance to really say anything besides that I was disappointed. I felt foolish for getting my hopes up, wasting two of my vacation days and not realizing that two week gap was probably so they could interview as many local candidates as possible and leave me as a backup. I'm sure they just found someone in SF and wanted to save my $400 interview travel cost in addition to relocation fees if I were to be hired. Anyways, moral of the story is if you need to relocate for this position, they will cancel your in person interview in an instant without much notice if they find someone else so don't get your hopes up. Very disappointing.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

None of their questions were difficult. I got the sense that they hadn't spoke to anyone with my level of experience because they kept saying how impressed they were by my answers.
