My interview was 5 years ago, before I knew about the existence of Glassdoor. Despite it being years ago, it was so traumatic that it left such a deep impression. It is still the worst interview I’ve ever experienced to date.
Long story short, despite being advertised as a full time position, they will criticise you so hard and make you feel so worthless, then end it by offering an internship position. I vaguely recall them offering me $350 a month instead of $400 in other reviews, as a degree holder.
They are not nice people, at all. Though I guess this also makes them great at what they do because you’d never guess by the way they portray themselves over social media. I remain disgusted by their behaviour.
So, I was interviewed by the founder and another lady. After a quick check, I can confirm that the founder is still in the company, but am not sure about the lady. I know she was made partner a year or so after my interview though.
I remember entering a small office which was filled with staff but without any chatter. Everyone was buried in their work and I was brought to a table to wait for my turn. Shortly after, I was led upstairs to an open office, zero privacy and I’m very sure everyone could hear the entire interview.
First and foremost, they nitpicked on the “Interest” portion of my resume and began quizzing me about it. Not in a light-hearted way, too. It was at that point that I started to realise this interview might have been a mistake.
Back then, as a fresh graduate, I only had a tiny bit of experience working on marketing for an SME before my interview, and naturally included it in my resume. The interviewers searched for the social media accounts in front of me, and began criticising and accusing my previous company of buying followers. Whether it was the truth or not, I wouldn’t know considering it was not my doing. However, they did not spare a glance at the content which was curated, because they were too busy bashing about the follower count. They did not care about your abilities or skills, it truly felt like they were just there to pick up things in order to break you down.
It was beyond the questions they asked. It’s their whole demeanour and attitude. The arrogance.
For a while, I truly felt like I was at fault for what I experienced but a sudden surge of memory prompted me to search them on Glassdoor and found this. I’m glad I wasn’t alone and that I wasn’t overthinking this experience all these years.
If you felt like crap after the interview, then like what the other reviewer said, don’t feel bad about it. It’s what they do, and you’re so much better off not joining them.
