I applied for the role and was contacted by the recruiter. The conversation with the recruiter was comfortable and as expected. The recruiter was very eager to speak with me and learn more about my background, was energized when speaking about USAA, and was excited to move me forward in the process.
My experience with the hiring manager was quite the opposite. The hiring manager was 10 minutes late to a 30 minute interview. The hiring manager’s voice and demeanor was off-putting — seemed uninterested in speaking with me and it was also apparent that the hiring manager was looking at my resume for the first time. The hiring manager asked 2 situational interview questions (“Tell me about a time...”), which I was surprised at for this executive-level role.
A few days later, I was dispositioned via a text message with no feedback, which was very disappointing.
