      Product Owner Interview

      4 May 2022
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Valuize in Mar 2022

      Interview

The entire interview process took just under a month as there were 4 rounds. The first round consisted of a quick 30 minute call with a representative from HR. It was a very informal chat, felt very much like a culture interview, where the interviewer went over the job description and my resume. The second round interview was a bit longer and was conducted by the hiring managers. This interview was much more focused on my experience and background and how it applied to the role which I applied for. The third round interview was with the product team. Once again a very conversational interview which gave me a better feel of what the product owner role entailed. By this interview I also got a good feel of what the company culture was like. The final round was the a member of their leadership, their CCO. This was very much similar to the first interview where it felt more like an open conversation. All in all, the interview process was conducted in a professional manner, and each interviewer made it feel much more like a conversation rather than an interview which is great as interviews can sometimes be very nerve wracking.

      Interview

The entire process was very transparent from the beginning; I received an email and FAQ document that informed about the interview stages, their length, how to prepare, etc. The interviews with representatives from the People & Culture and the Client Success teams were comfortable and focused; everyone was an active listener and curious about my answers. I was able to ask all my questions about culture, role success, company growth and I felt like they were answered candidly. I am fairly sure one or two of the interviews ran past the allotted time because I had so many questions. The Valuize teams were happy to oblige with extra time, which was nice. There was also a quick exercise to perform in Excel; it took about 30 minutes and is meant to demonstrate competency concerning one of my role's responsibilities. The instructions were easy understandable and I was able to complete the task without worry. The interview steps being clear and predictable and the interviews themselves feeling like natural conversations versus a tennis match of questions and answers helped reduced the anxiety in navigating through each stage. I was very pleased with the experience and it was a significant reason to why I accepted the position offer.
