I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Veeam Software in Jun 2025
Interview
There were some red flags straight from the start:
- the emails I received were all very generic, poorly formatted
- the hiring screen seemed to have little idea what the position was and how the process worked after arriving late.
- I was pushed ahead to a second interview a week later to someone (regional manager) who really had no idea who I was and instantly wanted to connect on LinkedIn.
- The job title was labeled as "Sr Systems Engineer" and I was told this was essentially not exactly true to definition and was in fact a technical sales, OTE salaried position. The split wasn't bad with a high base (Either 75/25, 70/30 depending on who I was speaking to) and while this wasn't an issue for me I could see it being an issue for some.
- I was congratulated for seeming like a good fit, but was the hiring manager was apologetic that they were about to go on PTO so it may be a moment before I was spoken to again and to reach out if I didn't hear anything in a week. I contacted in a week and was ghosted. I contacted again 2 weeks later (total of 3 weeks), and ghosted again.
- I removed the LinkedIn contact and received a rejection notice in 24 hours.
To be honest, this feels a little bit like someone has introduced some sort of KPI that needs to be met in relation to LI contacts rather than an actual job opening
