I went through a three-stage interview process for the Junior Data Science Program at Virtusa. The process was well-structured and included both technical and non-technical components. Initial Assessment: This was a written or online assessment that tested my understanding of data science fundamentals. It included questions on Python, statistics, basic machine learning concepts, and some aptitude-based problems. It also tested time management, as the time was limited. Technical Interview: The second round was a technical interview conducted by a panel. They asked questions related to data preprocessing, feature engineering, types of machine learning models, and also gave me a couple of scenario-based questions to test my problem-solving skills. I was also asked about the academic projects I had done and to explain the technical stack used. HR/Non-Technical Interview: The final round was more of an HR and personality-based discussion. They asked about my career goals, how I handle pressure, my interest in data science, and why I wanted to join Virtusa. They also assessed my communication skills and cultural fit for the organization. Overall Experience: The process was professional and smooth. The interviewers were friendly and gave enough time to answer. I'd recommend brushing up on both theoretical knowledge and practical application of data science concepts before attending.
