I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Walmart (San Bruno, CA) in Apr 2017
Interview
I was contacted via LinkedIn by a Walmart eCommerce recruiter who was super friendly. I interviewed with her and she asked me a few standard behavioral questions. About a week later, I interviewed with two Walmart eCommerce employees via WebEx. The interview was one hour long and split into two 30 min. interviews. The first of two interviews was more behavioral, but more in depth than the first-round behavioral interview. The guy I interviewed with came off as rude. He was describing some work procedures and while explaining a situation used a politically incorrect term that surprised me. During the second 30 min. interview, the interviewer was a woman and showed me screenshots of Walmart.com and asked me how I would improve the site. She mumbled a lot so I couldn't understand what she was saying. She read me a scenario and asked me what I would do in this situation, but i could understand what she was saying. I hope she speaks clearer with other interviewees. Horrible experience. What a waste of my time.
I asked them what the training process will be like and they straight up said that they don't know.
The Interview process was only a couple of rounds. An initial recruiting call, followed by 2 interviews: 1) one with the hiring manager, and one with another member from the team. The process was very seamless, and not too formal.
It was a very standard interview process. Overall, the entire process was completed over a range of rounds that ranged from behavioral topics to casework. The whole process was conducted in a timely manner.
A recruiter contacted me on LinkedIn, then I had a short and casual phone interview. They then made you download and take a phone “game” test thing which was very odd but I think was just there to see the effort you’d put in and look at your problem solving. If you pass this, they fly you out to San Bruno (San Francisco) for a day of interviews. They were actually pretty fun.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
First was behavioral, second was to test how much you had studied the website, and third was a case study.
Ex. Tell me what you think of this image of the Walmart homepage and what looks “off” to you or what you think you would change?
