I applied through university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Wayfair (Boston, MA) in Nov 2017
Interview
1st screening phone round with the Hiring Manager for 30 minutes and then onsite round involving case study and some SQL based questions.
The interviewer was highly impressed and even went onto say that he liked the way I related real time practical scenarios to the questions asked, although I became a part of ghosting process as I never got a call back, despite answering all the answers with flying colors. Moreover, the interviewer was too confident that I would easily go through the next onsite round without any difficulty since he thought I was well experienced in Agile methodology based projects and the technical knowledge required on SQL.
I was pissed off the way Wayfair treats prospective candidates. First of all, I didn't ask the interviewer nor did I show any intention or desperation that I was dying to get through the next round, even then the interviewer gave me false promises that I would be interviewed within 3 business days onsite.
Later on, after following up thrice with the Hiring Manager and the recruiter I gave up any hopes of getting through, and got a auto-generated rejection mail 1 month later.
I strongly believe that Wayfair for internship positions don't look for experienced candidates despite mentioning that 1-2 years of professional experience is desirable, as they eventually went ahead and hired less than 1 year experienced professional for 4-5 competitive intelligence analyst positions.
